Live connection diagnosis

NAS Remote Access Test

Test the right network path for direct port forwarding, DDNS, reverse proxies, vendor relays or Tailscale/VPN.

NAS remote access diagnosis

Choose the actual access method before testing. Direct public endpoints and relay/overlay paths require different evidence.

The public IP shown here is detected from this browser request. External probes are restricted to that same public IP.

How are you reaching the NAS?

Do not treat every NAS like an exposed port

Synology QuickConnect, Tailscale and vendor relay products can work correctly with no public inbound port. DDNS, reverse proxies and direct forwarding are different: they should expose a testable public TCP path. Connection Vitals branches before it probes.

Use the vendor-specific path when it changes the diagnosis

These pages exist only where the access method changes what a useful test means.

Synology

Separate QuickConnect/relay behavior from an intentionally exposed direct or reverse-proxy path.

QNAP

Separate myQNAPcloud Link from a deliberately exposed reverse-proxy or forwarded service.

TrueNAS

Prefer overlay/VPN remote access; probe only a service you intentionally publish.

Other home server

Use the generic TCP evidence chain when no vendor-mediated path is involved.
